scarecrow mask
Celebrate this fall season with the kids by making paper plate scarecrow masks. Simple to cut the face out of the center of a paper plate, then add the straw and a hat on top. Don't forget to add the red triangle nose for the added effect. This makes a great mask for a scarecrow costume for Halloween too!

Instructions To Make A Scarecrow Mask :
1. Cut the center out of a paper plate so the face of your child can peek through it.
2. Color or paint the top half of the paper plate yellow and the bottom orange.
3. Cut out a lopsided triange in orange construction paper for the start of your scarecrow hat. Cut out small red squares and glue them on as patches. Add little Xs with marker around the edges of the square patches.
4. Glue the top part of hat to top of head of your scarecrow mask.
5. Cut out thin strips of yellow paper. Glue them down from the hat in different directions.
6. Cut out a long rectangle with orange paper. Glue it at the bottom of the hat to give your scarecrow hat a brim.
7. Now for the bottom. Lay your mask over a sheet of yellow paper. draw the outline of your plate and add extra. Cut it out and glue it to the inside bottom of your mask.
8. Cut the excess yellow paper into strips giving it a straw feel.
9. Using the same technique cut a piece of red paper to go around the bottom front and glue it into place. It should look like the red is gathering everything at the neck and the yellow straw is coming out of the bottom.
10. Before wearing you scarecrow mask for a fall party or Halloween, cut a red triangle out and tape it to your nose. Now you will look like a funny scarecrow!
